Golden Globes 2019: Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice lead the nominations

Gambar
awards season is officially off to the races with today’s  Golden Globe Awards  nominations. The  Hollywood Foreign Press Association  (HFPA)  announced  late last night that  Killing Eve  actress  Sandra Oh  and  Brooklyn Nine-Nine  actor-comedian  Andy Samberg  would be hosting the awards ceremony, which are often seen as a predictor of the  Oscars  (although the Globes hand out awards for both film and TV). The pair had presented the  Emmy  for Best Direction of a Comedy Series in September, and had a crackling comedic spark.   Last year's nominees included the films The Post, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Shape of Water, as well as the TV shows Game of Thones, The Handmaid's Tale, Big Little Lies, and The Crown. The 76th Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles, on January 6, 2019 at 5pm local time (1am in the UK). The ceremony airs live on NBC in the US; at the moment no UK broadcaster is due to show it. Below is the c

Taylor Swift Got Robbed. But Why? The singer gets just one Grammy nomination

Gambar
"Here lies Taylor Swift's reputation—or at least the final nail in the coffin of her  Reputation  era." So writes Brittany Spanos in a  Rolling Stone  piece that mulls the singer's Grammy nomination "snub": no mention of the album or its singles except one lonely listing in the Best Pop Vocal Album Category. Consider that Reputation  was 2018's top-selling album and its fourth single, "Delicate," became "a sleeper hit this year" and "a massive radio hit." Plus Swift is a Grammy darling, the youngest artist ever to snag Album of the Year with Fearless  at age 20 and the first woman to  win twice when  1989  triumphed in 2016. So wither the love? OK,  Reputation  was dark and different. And it wasn't released in time for the 2018 Grammys, so it had to wait a year. There was also the controversy after  1989  beat Kendrick Lamar's "astounding"  To Pimp a Butterfly —and "this year's eight-album

Bebe Rexha Shares Heartfelt Grammy Congratulations to Dua Lipa: 'In My Heart We Already Won'

Gambar
Bebe Rexha and Dua Lipa were both shocked and thrilled to receive nominations for the 2019 Grammy Awards, but for Rexha, their recognition goes beyond their musical accomplishments and strikes an emotional chord. In a brief note she posted to Twitter, the singer shouts out Lipa along with a sweet photo of the two of them embracing: "Two Albanian girls nominated for 2 Grammys. In my heart we already won." Billboard  spoke with both Rexha and Lipa following the announcement for the 2019 nominations, and Friday morning (Dec. 7) for both pop stars involved a lot of (happy!) tears. Rexha's parentsstarted bawling when they learned that their daughter was up for two awards, and Lipa was in the middle of a meeting when she heard the news and then "couldn't stop crying." Both Rexha and Lipa are nominated for best new artist. Rexha, along with Florida Georgia Line, is nominated for best country duo/group performance for their collaboration, "Let It Be.&q

2019 Grammy Nominations: The Snubs & Surprises

Gambar
The 2019 Grammy nominees were announced Friday (Dec. 7) morning, which means hot on the heels of the congratulations and breathless exclamations of what an honor it is just to be nominated comes the inevitable sniping over perceived snubs. And this year is no different, as there are several A-listers shut out of the Big 4 categories (album of the year, song of the year, record of the year and best new artist). Taylor Swift, a long-time Grammy fave with two album of the year wins under her belt, misses the Big 4 entirely, with  reputation  only getting a nod for best pop vocal album. While the snub is understandable in some ways – Swift's latest received mixed reviews – it's still confounding given what a commercial blockbuster it was (it was Billboard's biggest album of 2018) and Swift's status as a Recording Academy favorite. Also in the pop snub realm, Ariana Grande was ignored in the Big 4 categories. Again, not a total shock considering the Grammys haven

7 artists who don't deserve their 2019 Grammy nominations — sorry

Gambar
Music is easily one of the most subjective topics to debate — which places the  Grammy Awards' Academy members  in a constant crossfire. Major award shows are bound to make mistakes. It's unavoidable. Our challenge, then, is to sort through the uproar and find nominations that future generations will look back on with either rage or confusion. Here are seven artists whose nominations seem at least somewhat undeserving, in no particular order. Cardi B had a monumental year, but "Invasion of Privacy" isn't album of the year material.   It's certainly encouraging to see the Grammys hand five nominations to  Cardi B , an unapologetic, unconventional firecracker — whose success reflects the significant shift towards rap and hip hop for modern music fans. But that doesn't mean her debut studio album, "Invasion of Privacy," necessarily deserves the high praise. While the project hits some very high points — "I Like It,&

US case against Huawei CFO revealed in Canadian court

Gambar
The United States is claiming that the chief financial officer of Chinese tech giant Huawei covered up violations of sanctions on Iran, according to Canadian prosecutors. Meng Wanzhou, who was  arrested in Vancouver  and faces extradition to the United States, is believed to have helped Huawei circumvent US sanctions by telling financial institutions that a Huawei subsidiary was a separate company, prosecutors said at a hearing Friday to determine whether Meng should be released on bail. Her lawyer said that she has ties to Canada and is not a flight risk. The judge, after hearing arguments from Meng's lawyer and prosecutors, did not rule on bail. The hearing will resume Monday at 1 p.m. ET. Previously, details surrounding why Meng, 46, had been detained were limited due to a press ban. A judge had accepted Meng's request to bar both police and prosecutors from releasing information about the case prior to the hearing. The ban was lifted on Friday. A judge in the
